Air Mauritius Ltd and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd sign a Memorandum of Understanding…

Air Mauritius has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited
(HAL) to extend their cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration.


During a ceremony held at the Air Mauritius Centre in Port Louis, on Tuesday 31 May 2022, the MoU
was signed by Mr Marday Venketasamy, G.O.S.K, C.S.K, Chairman of Air Mauritius Ltd and Mr. Puneet
Kumar, Additional General Manager of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Kanpur, India (On behalf of Mr
Apurba Roy, GM, Hindustan Aeronautics AL, Kanpur).


Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is the manufacturer of the Dornier HAL – DO – 228 aircraft which has
been developed for coast guard duties and maritime surveillance among others.


On this occasion, Mr Sajal Prakash, CEO, Accessories Complex, HAL stated that, “The signing of this
MoU is a great step to boost the business relationship between HAL and Air Mauritius. It will enable
both HAL and Air Mauritius to initiate mutual collaboration in fields like maintenance & upgrades of
Do-228 fleet, refresher and recurrent trainings, Technical and logistics support. This MoU will also
benefit HAL and Air Mauritius to explore the possibility of setting up an MRO hub for Do-228 fleet in
India Oceania Region (IOR).”


Mauritius counts three Dornier 228 in the Maritime Air Squadron, a branch of the National Coast
Guard under the Mauritius Police Force.


Since 1990, the Air Mauritius Technical Services has been collaborating with the Mauritius Police
Force to offer technical support to its Dornier fleet and will extend its support to the increased fleet.
This MoU represents an opportunity for Air Mauritius Technical Services to offer maintenance, repair
and overhaul services to Dornier aircraft in the region.


Mr Marday Venketasamy G.O.S.K, C.S.K, Chairman of Air Mauritius, stated that, “Air Mauritius is very
proud to celebrate the continued technical support for the Dornier 228 aircraft. The collaboration with
HAL will be a key factor in expanding our MRO services regionally and supporting the government’s
vision for aerospace MRO in Mauritius.”
