in Société

With a view to reducing risks of the new COVID- 19 variant (B.1.1.529) reaching our
country through air borne imports of fruits, vegetables and flowers from South Africa, the
Ministry of Agro Industry and Food Security has decided to adopt the following
precautionary measures with immediate effect.

All imported fruits and vegetables should be pre-packed and should go through 48-hours’
of quarantine upon arrival at the airport. Consignments will be transferred directly from
the aircraft to the cold room of the Agricultural Marketing Board located at the Airport,
where they will be retained and isolated at no cost to the importer.

Clearance by the National Plant Protection Office (NPPO) will be issued only after the 48-
hours isolation period. Officers of the NPPO are available on telephone numbers
52562541 and 6376232, for any assistance
