Liverpool Football Club has today announced the launch of a new International Academy in Mauritius.
In partnership with The Ministry of Youth and Sport Republic of Mauritius, the Reds will now deliver ongoing
coaching programmes to youngsters on the island.
The Academy will provide unique opportunities for children around the country, from grass roots level through to
elite youth football, to learn to play ‘The Liverpool Way’.
Players will improve their football skills and progress their technical, tactical, physical, social and mental abilities
through age-specific coaching sessions to develop football in Mauritius and compliment the current youth
football structure.
Through the unique coaching methods of Liverpool FC, there will also be a focus on improving key life skills of
the young participants, such as communication, teamwork, management, preparation and organisation.
A wide range of year-round programmes are planned to begin later in the year, including ongoing player
development sessions and soccer schools during the holiday season.
The implementation and development of the coaching programme will be overseen by LFC coaching staff, who
will be based in Mauritius to oversee the project. Local coaches will also be involved and will benefit from a
comprehensive coach education scheme to deliver coaching ‘The Liverpool Way’.
Stephan Toussaint, the Mauritius Minister of Youth and Sports, said: “We are delighted to announce that we are
working with the Champions League winners LFC to deliver their latest International Academy project here in
Mauritius.
“The club has a track record of developing exceptional young players in their Academy and we will be providing
opportunities here in Mauritius for local players to experience the same coaching system and philosophy. We
can’t wait to get started.”

fantastic opportunity to bring authentic LFC coaching to young fans around the world. We’ve got a hugely
passionate fanbase in Mauritius and it’s great that they can be part of this project.
“Alongside the player development element of this programme, coach education is an equally important aspect
of our operation. This is how we introduce local coaches to the same philosophies and techniques delivered at
our very own Academy in Liverpool.
“We are confident that this project will be a positive development for football in Mauritius and we look forward to
